A Family Affair: Freelancing with ReFUEL4

Senit-Cover.jpgSenit is a grade school teacher who has always had that creative itch but did not have the means to pursue it. She tells us how through ReFUEL4's Earn and Learn Program and collaborative approach with freelancers, she successful grew to be a successful graphic designer with ReFUEL4— without any prior design training or experience.

More than that, she shares how there has been a "huge impact to my life" as ReFUEL4 has had an impact on her family as a whole, as they too are now ReFUEL4 freelancers.

1. Tell me a little bit about yourself - What is it that makes you tick and inspires you?

Senit: I am in my early 30s and have been a grade school teacher for 10 years now, teaching elementary-level science. From as far back as I remember, I have always wanted to be a designer. However, doing a designer course in the Philippines is very expensive so I chose something more practical and affordable.

My family and the creative process make me feel alive. That is why I love working with children as their creativity and imagination is limitless.

2. What Where You Looking for When You Came Across ReFUEL4? And what Compelled you to Start Working with Us?

Senit:  I discovered ReFUEL4 through a Facebook ad.  Although I was skeptical at first, I figured why not give it a shot since designing was something I wanted to do. My mind was put at ease when I received my first payment based on the performance of the ad I created which was selected. I was thrilled and relieved knowing that this was real.

3. What Has Been Your Experience, in Working with ReFUEL4?

Senit:  I was initially apprehensive about freelancing with ReFUEL4 as I did not have any formal graphic design training or experience. I started watching How To Use Adobe Photoshop tutorials on YouTube and practicing on Adobe before submitting my first few creatives for a few briefs. Needless to say I was not confident about my initial designs.

I was truly very surprised when I received constructive feedback and motivation from various members of the ReFUEL4 team including Earl. Their advice have been instrumental in teaching me the ins and outs of performance measured creatives. The whole ReFUEL4 team is always happy to work with me and assist me whenever I have questions or need help.

ReFUEL4 has been great for me and I think more so for designers who want to learn more about what makes a good design. The ReFUEL4 team gives a lot of advice and does not discriminate against designers without credentials like other companies might. For that reason, I referred my husband  and also my sister to freelance with ReFUEL4. My husband is now a big fan and actively works on ReFUEL4 briefs. You could say a family that designs together, stays together :)!

ReFUEl4 has not only made a personal impact on my life as I am able to do what I love but has made a huge impact to my life as it has allowed my family (my husband and sister) to find supplemental streams of income while working from home.

4. What can ReFUEL4 do to make Earn and Learn Design Program more effective?

Senit:  I think more webinars for designers would be beneficial. Also, the instructions for the creative briefs could be more specific while giving better insights on what is required.
